Ole Miss Tops Auburn, 61-54

On February 11th in Oxford, the Rebels got the win over the Tigers, 61-54, in SEC play. It was a hard-fought battle in the first half, with Ole Miss heading into halftime down 31-24. A solid surge in the second, however, put Auburn away at the end.

Some notes on this pairing: Ole Miss was ranked higher in the RPI than Auburn, #53 to #134. The Rebels play very well at home, and the Tigers were slumping and coming off 4 losses out of their last 5. The Rebels have now split regular season games, having fallen to the Tigers earlier this year 69-68.

Ole Miss created enough separation in assists and turnover margin.

Ole Miss was able to spread the ball over the floor better, with 14 assists to 11 for Auburn. With only 13 giveaways compared to the 16 from the Tigers, the Rebels were able to keep possession when it counted.

Murphy Holloway was the leading scorer for the Rebels, shooting 53% for 20 points in 32 minutes. Holloway also put up a game-high 11 rebounds.
